Here is the book I "borrowed" from my hubs:

Synopsis:
Do You Know What It Takes to Be a High Potential in Your Organization?

Being seen as a high-potential leader is essential to getting promoted and reaching your organization's upper echelons, but most companies keep their top-talent list a closely guarded secret. And the assessment process they use to decide who is and isn't a future leader is an even greater mystery.

The High Potential's Advantage takes you behind the scenes and shows how you can get on, and stay on, your company's fast track. Leadership development experts Jay Conger and Allan Church draw upon decades of research and experience--designing high-potential programs for hundreds of large well-known global organizations and assessing and coaching thousands of talented leaders--to answer the critical questions asked by ambitious individuals like you: What will it take for me to advance in this organization? What does my boss look for when deciding whether I’m a high potential? Once I'm on the list, then what? Can I fall off it and, if so, what do I do?

Revealing the key differentiators--five critical "X factors"--that set people apart across companies of all types, Conger and Church show what you need to do to achieve and maintain top-talent status. You’ll find detailed advice for cultivating and practicing each X factor, with numerous and rich examples from those on the verge of their first promotion to those only a step away from the C-suite. The High Potential's Advantage also shows you how to gain insight into and excel at the specific process your company uses to identify and develop high potentials--and how to determine which unique capabilities your company values the most. The High Potential's Advantage is the essential guide to becoming a leader in your organization.

Lupus Make Your Way

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m participating in the Lupus Foundation of America’s Make Your Mark™ program. I am participating in to raise critical funds to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus through programs of research, education, support and advocacy.

Lupus is an unpredictable and misunderstood disease in which the immune system is out of balance, causing damage to any organ system in the body. The exact cause of lupus is unknown and while lupus can strike anyone at any time, 90 percent of the 1.5 million Americans living with the disease are females.

The Lupus Foundation of America is the only national force devoted to solving the mystery of lupus, one of the world’s cruelest, most devastating diseases. We envision a life free of lupus. That is why I’m coming to you now, to ask for your support. Will you make a tax-deductible donation to support my fundraising efforts? Your gift today can make a definite impact and help me to get closer to my fundraising goal.

What’s more, if your employer offers a Matching Gift Program to employees you may be able to double your contribution.

Thank you for your generosity,
Felicia Qhamata

P.S. I invite you to learn more about the Lupus Foundation of America and their great work at http://www.lupus.org/

Congratulations 4th Grader

Alhamdulilah, yesterday my beautiful little girl started her first day of forth grade.  This will be her last year in Elementary and I'm so proud.  This little girl fought her way from the back of the pack to being nominated for GT classes and missed it by very little on the test.  She passed her STAAR test with flying colors and even though nervous I know she will do the same this year.

As my husband says I won't know what they can do until I let them try.  So I've let her go even though she is my first baby and I'm trying so hard to hang on.  She has started learning how to cook and has almost mastered laundry LOL. I can't wait to see the wonders Allah has in store for this wonderful little woman.

Day 3 of 100

100 Day Challenge

Ok, So I neglected to mention that this raw food adventure is going to a 100 day challenge along with exercising and a religious activity. Yay for day 3. Not much to comment on today, but it's a rainy day 80% chance which will kill our outside walks but I'm going to power through some how.

Great update I actually hit 10000 steps by 5pm yesterday. emoticon
I ended the day with 11971. Also all this extra work is paying off I'm down past my previous stall line of 177 emoticon So Happy, Gonna keep up the good work.

FIBRO UPDATE:
So All this working out and speed walking killed me last week.  My knee started giving me issues and I almost caved a couple of times, but powered through.  I'd like to also thank my "Creed Card" which I got from the Humana living fit conversation.

The Creed Card reads:

I don't fee like walking, and the choice is up to me.....

But I want and deserve to be Lean, Healthy, and Fit.

So, for right now I choose to be uncomfortable, get
up and get walking and train my mind to make
exercise and it's benefits a regular part of my life.

So with that in mind I was temporarily uncomfortable getting started and worked through the discomfort to keep exercising and as the weight post above shows it's working.

From Productive Muslim: "Because Khadijah Asked...."

“Because Khadijah Asked…” An Alternative Path To Meeting Mr. Right

Beacuse Khadijah Asked...An Alternative Path to Finding Mr.Right - Productive MuslimKhadijah. Just saying her name instantly inspires me to want to be a stronger Muslimah, to sacrifice more, to discover her hidden strength and beauty she gave to her husband.
Khadijah. Who was this amazing, strong, beautiful, brilliant, pious and noble woman? I don’t mean who was she in the Seerah text, but who was she? What was it like to be her friend, what events shaped her life? What would it have been like to sit down with her over a meal and talk? What kind of advice could she tell me about marriage, Mr. Right, and living until your last breath is gone, all for the sake of Allah?
It is because of her that our Deen begins with a legacy that starts, after Rasullah, with a woman. After the Mercy of Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) (glorified and exalted be He), it is because of her sacrifices that we are Muslims today. She gave everything she had, all that she owned, from her hands, heart, and soul for Islam.
But to appreciate this beautiful opportunity she had, we have to go back to a very significant moment in time. That moment is when she asked her maid servant to inquire about the young man who was working for her to see if he was available for marriage and would consider her. A man who had a beautiful character and was honest, hardworking, trustworthy and produced amazing results for her business.
Khadijah asked.
Khadijah, may Allah’s Mercy be upon her, asked about Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) for marriage.
She initiated the communication.
She sent someone on her behalf to find out if he was available for marriage.
And it was because she asked, that she got that blessed answer.
And with that answer, was the beginning of one of the greatest stories of love for all times, and also one of the greatest examples of a true Muhsina and Mu’mina.
A woman older than him, previously married with children, was inquiring about a younger bachelor, from one of the best tribes in town. The honor of his acceptance wasn’t just hers alone. It was his too. He was going to marry one of the most beautiful hearts in all of Mecca. A woman whose heart would sacrifice everything she had to support him and Islam.
Khadijah asked.
Today, you’re probably wondering when and how you will get married. You go to school, maybe then graduate school, and after this begin a career. As time passes, the pressure begins to set in to get married. But out there in the world, you see many single and available brothers that you could consider as a Mr. Right potential.
What I want you to realize, is that many Mr. Right potentials, have no idea you’re available for marriage, ready to settle down, have time for a husband, or willing to accept him for where he is right now in his career and education. After all, few brothers in their early 20s will have enough income saved up for a luxury wedding, vacation, apartment and car all at once. But I meet sisters who tell me that this isn’t the main issue, that they can wait while he builds his career and financial situation.
How is he ever going to know that you don’t mind letting him build things up over time? After all, he is living under the impression of the same cultural status that you are.
I recently surveyed the brothers on our Practimate list and told them I was teaching you to be proactive, similar to Khadijah, in finding a husband, by sending a third party to inquire on their behalf, whether a mahram or a trusted friend. I asked them if they thought this was weird, desperate or something they would consider offensive.
Their responses broke the common myth!
One brother said,
“It will be more helpful if the word is “out there” in an appropriate manner. I feel like the present times are a bit in transition where old systems are failing (the waiting game) and new systems are coming into play, and we are held up between the two. For my parents’ time the waiting thing worked as it had the right setting from every perspective…”
Another brother said,
“A girl needs to put all the “games” aside and just be real with people. If that means that she tells her family about the brother…so they can talk with him, so be it. In fact, if a sister’s family or someone she knows came to me telling me that a sister is interested in me, I would at the very least check it out; I would take the opportunity seriously. Khadijah sent someone to speak with the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) about marriage…she took the initiative, this also shows that a women is strong and willing to take charge when needed. The sister has to be a REAL, genuine person, down to earth (for it to work.)”
In general, the idea of you sending someone, respectably speaking, to inquire with tactfulness, and in a good manner – not a “I have a friend who likes you” mentality, but again, with maturity and modesty, is something a mature man, ready for marriage, will appreciate. Only 1% of the brothers who responded didn’t agree with my recommendation. And it’s not that he disagreed, just felt that men should be more pro-active themselves, if they really want to be married.
So why not pursue Mr. Right like Khadijah?
Sadly, we have ignored this example (and others) from Islam of women sending a “messenger” to inquire on their behalf about marriage. That they were proactively involved in the marriage process. Sisters accuse others of being desperate when they let others know they are looking to get married. Families believe that a daughter must be sought after and it is shameful for a daughter and her family to approach a man for marriage.
And so, many beautiful, smart, educated and talented women are waiting and waiting for Mr. Right to knock on their father’s door. And in the silence of a new beautiful day, when no one is looking you may feel sad and despair. Of course, you know all things are in the hands of Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He)(glorified and exalted be He). Of course you know that there is reward in sabr, but you are like everyone else on the planet. A desire to marry, and one day to begin a new family. So rather than judgment and a discussion on the ideal bubble we all “should” be living in:
It’s time to re-examine our value system, and not forbid or look down upon something approved of and practiced by the best man on the face of the earth, and our Mother for all believers, one of the best women in human history.
The re-examination process, begins with you.
If you are ready to consider an alternative option for seeking out Mr. Right, then first, I want to mention that there are rules to this pro-active approach.
Here are some guidelines to follow if you are considering being the pro-active person in initiating marriage dialogue.

1) Never initiate something without having a wali or mahram having complete knowledge of what is going on.

This protects you and the potential Mr. Right from ending up in a situation not pleasing to Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He)(glorified and exalted be He). You want to go through this process in a halal and dignified manner.

2) Send someone you trust to ask on your behalf, without initially revealing your identity.

This way, you know if the brother is even available before revealing your personal information. One brother mentioned in the survey responses, that it’s great to give a brother a heads up that someone is interested, because if he is talking to another sister already, then he can let the messenger know, and if it doesn’t work out, he can come back and also let her know.
If he is interested, then have your “go between” share who you are, and ask the brother how you and your wali can contact him – but communication should always go back to your wali or mahram.

3) Pray istikharah.

We ask Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) (glorified and exalted be He) to guide us daily every time we say “Ihdina Siratul-Mustaqeem” in Salah, but we are also blessed to have a special du’a just for making decisions.
The reality is that many brothers out there desperately want to get married, but feel there are so many hurdles to overcome to get there.
The first hurdle, is fearing rejection. Women tend to think men always have their act all put together, but they have their own batch of insecurities and fears. It may make things easier for a man to consider you when he already knows you are interested. And if he isn’t, he will be more confident in pursuing the right person for him in the future.
And what about you? Doesn’t this put you on the line to face rejection. Of course it does, but you have two choices. Do nothing, wait and handle the challenges of just waiting, which is fine if this is the path you want to take. Or do something, be pro-active, possibly meet your Mr. Right and handle the challenges of asking.
In every other area of ‘ibahadah, we don’t sit down and wait for it to come. For Hajj we save, for money we work, for knowledge we seek it out. Marriage doesn’t have to be an exception.
Because Khadijah asked, you could too.

Reflection

We live and we die. In between we are to serve god to the best of our ability. How many of us are on the straight path and how many of us have been led astray? Has god given you a way to return or left you a you are meant to burn.
Will you be ready for your book to be read and your deeds to be counted when angel Israfil blows the horn?
These are the things we must think of day to day and reflect on especially during the holy month of ramadan. Are you prepared to gain as many good deeds as possible while shaitan is chained and heaven is wide open? Forget tomorrow, later is not promised so make the most of NOW.

They grow up so fast...

Today has been an awesome day for my soon to be 17 month old daughter Khalifah.  Not only has she been feeding herself all day with a spoon, but she went potty in the big girl potty today as well.  I of course had to convince her it was ok to sit on and then....... she went.

So we are potty training and self feeding.  I love that my baby is becoming more independent especially with another on the way, but I'm still sad.  Why must they grow so fast?

My two front teeth

Well actually it's up to 4 now.  Yes, my precious little baby Khalifah is on her 4th tooth.  She has 2 little chick-lets at the bottom and 1.25 at the top.  LOL I say that because the 4th one is still breaking through the skin.  It's cute until she's crying at like 2 in the morning for no reason.  Literally no real reason because most of the time she is still sleep.  So I will have to put orajel on her gums for her to go back to sleep. Ah well, the joys of mother hood.

Oh happy day....

NOT! so not only was I like soooo behind at work, but I was also starting to get sick.  My throat was starting to itch.    My DD#1 is already sick and lo and behold the little one is teething again with her fourth beautiful tooth (so happy my precious is no longer toothless).

So the perfect end to the perfect day, I am sitting in the bed miserable.  My throat hurts soooo much, my nose won't stop running which lead to a massive nose bleed and my head is killing me.  I took a benedryl to combat the sneezing and the runny nose, not helping so far.  Bright side babies are in the bed.  Just gonna curl up and call it a night.

Pray we get better by Monday, I want to take my babies to the Zoo.

New credit score will delve deep into consumers' histories‏

December 2, 2011

A Credit Score That Tracks You More Closely

There’s no hiding now.
Anyone who has recently applied for a mortgage knows that lenders are already looking much more closely at your financial affairs. But soon, they’ll be able to easily delve into the deepest recesses of your financial life, accessing information that never before appeared on your credit report.
This week, a company called CoreLogic introduced a new type of credit file, which is based on the giant repository of consumer data it maintains on just about everything that most of the traditional credit bureaus do not: missed rental payments that have gone into collection, any evictions or child support judgments, as well as any applications for payday loans, along with your repayment history.
The new report also includes any property tax liens and whether you’ve fallen behind on your homeowner’s association dues. It may reflect that you now owe more than your house is worth or if you own any other real estate properties outright. It also is supposed to catch mortgages made by smaller lenders that the big credit bureaus may have missed.
The idea, CoreLogic says, is to provide lenders with more details about prospective borrowers, supplementing what they already know through the more traditionalcredit reports furnished by the big three credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Moreover, CoreLogic has formed a partnership with FICO — the provider of one of the most popular credit scores used by lenders — which will formulate a new consumer score based on the new data.
Perhaps it’s not surprising that a company decided to pull together this information, since much of it is already publicly available. But because it comes on top of all the other information that’s being collected about you — your exact location at every minute, where you’ve been on the Web — you can’t help but feel that some of these companies know more about your activities than your spouse.
While the CoreScore credit report became available to all types of lenders on Wednesday, the actual score, which will be ready in March, is being created specifically for mortgage and home equity lenders, though it could eventually be developed for other types of credit.
For many consumers, the files are likely to reveal black marks that previously went undetected, which may damage an otherwise clean record. But the companies contend that it works both ways: The added information could help consumers with thin credit files by illustrating positive behaviors elsewhere, say making timely rent payments.
So why now? Clearly, the two companies saw a business opportunity. Lenders, who just a few years back looked the other way, remain particularly skittish aboutmortgage lending and are looking for more information about prospective borrowers’ ability to pay their debts.
“Lending is very constrained and origination volumes need to grow to make for a profitable mortgage business,” said Joanne Gaskin, director of product management global scoring at FICO. “So lenders are looking for ways to expand, but to expand safely.”
An estimated 100 million American consumers will have a CoreScore credit report, while more than 200 million people have traditional reports from the big three bureaus. Though the new information can influence a lender’s decision, the new score isn’t replacing the classic scores used in the automated mortgage underwriting systems kept by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac or the Federal Housing Administration, which buy or back the vast majority of mortgages (though CoreLogic said it has let the agencies know what it is doing). But the added information may sway a lender to charge you more (or less) in interest on a mortgage. Lenders of all stripes, including auto lenders, have access to the reports, and they will be marketed to employers and insurers, too.
Ms. Gaskin said that FICO was still tweaking the credit score’s formula. But the next step is to build something that will try to get even deeper inside your financial mind: The company plans to create a more sophisticated tool that will predict how you might behave under different loan terms.
The reason all of this is such a big deal, according to John Ulzheimer, president of consumer education at SmartCredit.com, is that CoreLogic already has major inroads with many lenders. When lenders want to pull your credit file, they go to a company like CoreLogic, which collects all three reports from the traditional bureaus, cleans them up a bit and merges them into a more user-friendly report. “They already have this massive market of mortgage companies that buy these credit reports from them,” he said. “It’s not like they have to go out and convince the companies to work with them.”
CoreLogic said that several national lenders had expressed interest in the report and the score. The company gleans its information from a variety of databases and sources, including its own customers, and says that it updates its reports daily. It says, for instance, that a new mortgage obligation doesn’t show up on a traditional report until about 60 days after closing, whereas it sees the new mortgage within 23 days. A lot of its information is derived from the nation’s courthouses and public records. And through its SafeRent business, it has “substantial coverage” of the multifamily rental management companies. It receives information on payday loans through its Teletrack unit, which agreed in June to pay $1.8 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that it sold its credit reports to marketers, which is against the law (CoreLogic declined to comment).
Next year, it will begin to evaluate whether to include even more data, including your payment history on utility and cellphone bills.
All of this worries consumer advocates like Chi Chi Wu, a staff lawyer at the National Consumer Law Center, who questioned the type of information being fed into the new files. When it comes to utilities, she said “there is evidence that all it could do for a substantial portion of low- and moderate-income consumers is make their credit files worse.” That’s because some consumers tend to fall behind on their bills during the more expensive winter months, but typically catch up later in the year.
And sometimes, she said, people don’t pay their rent for very good (and legal) reasons; perhaps their landlord failed to correct a vermin or hot water problem. Will that be fully and fairly reflected on the report?
Payday loans are another issue, she said. “Payday loans and other high-cost credit are very onerous, and people have trouble paying them because they have a 400 percent A.P.R.,” or annual percentage rate, she said, adding that she believes that this type of data is irrelevant for the vast majority of jobs.
Since CoreLogic is now subject to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which governs consumer reporting agencies, you will be able to dispute any information that you believe is incorrect. But if the data is accurate, albeit unflattering, it will trail you for a long time. Information culled from public records stays on your report for about seven years (or 10 years for bankruptcies).
If you do find any inaccuracies — and the big three bureaus have been known to make their fair share of mistakes, including confusing the records of people with similar names — CoreLogic said that you can file a dispute (instructions are on its Web site). “Data dispute and correction processes are in place to ensure that any errors can be quickly and accurately resolved,” said Tim Grace, senior vice president of product management for CoreLogic. “In fact, one of the significant consumer benefits of the report is the availability of formerly disparate credit behavior data on a unified report that consumers can access, validate and correct.”
You should probably check the new credit report for any errors, so you’ll want to get a copy to review. Within a year, the new report will be available atAnnualCreditReport.com, where consumers are entitled to one free copy annually. That same rule applies to each of the big bureau’s reports on the site currently. Until the new report can be requested online, you can call 877-532-8778 to get a copy.
CoreLogic and FICO said that you will probably be able to buy the new score at some point. If you are turned down for a loan or don’t get the best rate, lenders are generally required to send you a notice that includes the score, as well as information about how your score ranks nationally and the major factors that weighed it down. But if lenders use more than one score to judge you, they can choose which one they want to include in the notice.
So while the credit bureaus may not yet know every last detail about your financial life, you should assume that they are watching.
