World Prematurity Day

World Prematurity Day is fast approaching, on November 17, 2012.  Please help blog on that day to raise awareness to overcome all the issues with prematurity and help decrease and/or eliminate premature births.

Our goal is to get the White House lit in purple on January 3, 2013 — both to honor the 75th anniversary of the founding of the March of Dimes by President Franklin Roosevelt, and to give hope to the families whose children have been born too soon.
So far, more than 7,000 people have signed our petition at Please join them by November 18 and help us raise awareness about the prematurity crisis:

What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia remains an elusive disease. It is really a syndrome, or a collection of problems that share pain, sleep disturbance, fatigue, abdominal discomfort, and trouble concentrating. Others experienced list of other problems, but everybody shares the common experience of lost quality of life. 

What are the symptoms of fibromyalgia?

In addition to pain, people with fibromyalgia could also have:
  • Cognitive and memory problems (sometimes called “fibro fog”)
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Morning stiffness
  • Headaches
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Painful menstrual periods
  • Numbness or tingling of hands and feet
  • Restless legs syndrome
  • Temperature sensitivity
  • Sensitivity to loud noises or bright lights

Fibromyalgia affects as many as 5 million Americans ages 18 and older. Most people with fibromyalgia are women (about 80 - 90 percent). However, men and children also can have the disorder. Most people are diagnosed during middle age.

How common is fibromyalgia? Who is mainly affected?

Fibromyalgia can occur by itself, but people with certain other diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritislupus, and other types of arthritis, may be more likely to have it. Individuals who have a close relative with fibromyalgia are more likely to develop it themselves.

1. Content Co-ordinator (One-Year Internship)

Job Description
To assist the Researcher by compiling research from a variety of resources for any kind of content-related project and to assist the Content team in co-ordinating incoming content submissions and ideas.
  • Compile clearly written, brief, and organized data for use in content delivery
  • Co-ordinate with contributors to manage incoming content submissions
  • Assist Head of Research & Content in liaising with contributors

2. Editor

Job Description
The editor is responsible for the review of content submissions and developing them in terms of quality and relevance.
  • Edit articles for substance and quality
  • Develop articles to be ready for publishing (incorporate SEO features, appropriate layout and formatting, etc.)
  • Brainstorm relevant and new topics for fans, and assign topics to appropriate contributors
  • Be able to meet tight and spur of the moment deadlines
  • Partake in online team meetings whenever scheduled
  • Support the Head of Research & Content in managing content
  • Take the place of Head of R&C in case of temporary or long term absence
  • Occasionally contribute personally written articles
  • Prepare or edit sales copy when required
